We hope that
the forums will provide lots of in depth information
about producing and making money from your amateur
content however we will put a basic guide on how we
started and how we turned our home grown movies in to
hard cash. This is in no way a definitive guide just
what worked for us.
This first
section will give you a very brief overview of the very
basics you will need to produce your first adult
production.

Making your first
movie is
no different than any other business venture. You will
need to produce a decent
product
and market it. Remember that there’s lots of competition
– internet sites, DVD’s, and VOD (video on demand) etc
that your
product
must have a “demand”. So find a niche market and stick
to it.
Making an amateur production requires thorough planning
and preparation or else you will end up with a total
flop in more ways than one (read into this!) I always
like to use a script or shot list. This way I can refer
back to it to make sure I have not forgotten anything.
Also, don’t go out on a limb. Meaning, if you have never
watched or enjoyed a certain category, don’t start now.
People purchasing your
movie
clips will be quickly disappointed if you clearly show
that you have no clue what you are doing. The amateur
adult business gets just as many “reads” as lets say, a
certain site gives you a bad
review
this can quickly destroy you.
Once you have your concept it will be time to decide on a budget.
This can really make or break you if you don’t stay
within reason. So when creating your budget, be
realistic. You might be lucky and create a best seller
with £20 but its better to invest a little into your
production. Here’s some potential costs and things you
will need to consider. You can water-down this list all
you want but your final production may suffer:
1. Actors/Models: All Actors/Models must be strictly
over 18 to work in any adult production in the UK, other
countries do vary their age limits however we are
talking about the UK market and the law here say "over
18 only".
You will need a minimum of two actors.
Yes, you could personally “star” in your own content but
there is a lot to consider before staring I your own
production. Actors will charge according to experience
and
body
type. If you want a Jenna Jameson look-alike, expect to
spend £2,500+ for a single days work. If you can find
yourself an inexperienced hot girl/guy you may be able
to save a few grand and pay them as little as £500. BUT
remember, they are inexperienced. This means that they
may be un reliable on the day of shooting or not be
able to perform under stressful conditions. If you are
deciding to make the movie with your wife/husband you
can reduce costs!
2. Camera Man: Once again, this can be you or another individual.
If you are not starring in your own
film this
can be you. The
camera
man is probably the most important
job for
this type of
work
because his shots will make or break your
clips
completely. If you are not experienced with a
camera
then you really should hire someone that is or get
reading and practicing. There are many sites on making
amateur productions on a small budget that give lots of
useful tips and information.
3. Lighting: Lighting is also a key element to a
successful production. It is best to hire someone to
adjust your lighting, especially if you plan to move
locations during your video. However, if you have time
you can do the lighting on your own just make sure you
test shoot a lot.
4. Sound: Just like in the movies, you may want to
invest in a sound-man however not having a polished
sound is not a huge concern to your viewer unless there
is a lot of dialog.
5. Hair & Makeup: This is not a huge concern as most the models
will do there own hair and makeup however I thought I
would add this little bit in for people wanting to make
a more professional looking production. The looks of
your actors is vital. Men and
women who appear on screen need to have their
hair AND MAKEUP (yes men, MAKEUP) done. This mean
adjusting
skin discoloration, covering blemishes, etc. A
professional
hair and
makeup person will be able to make your face and
body look like a real
movie stars because they are used to working with
different kinds of lighting and cameras.
6. Editing. The Editor is the man (or woman) who pieces
it all together and makes it “look pretty”.
7. Music. Remember, you can’t just rip-off your all time
favorite song from the radio. So you will need someone
to create
music for you or purchase and download copy write
free music from a number of sites that provide this
service on the internet .
So that is a list of your major expense. After
completing your
budget and determining what kind of people you will
be hiring you will want to determine dates for your
production then jump right into hiring. Advertise on
photography and model sites under the “Adult” section!
Be sure that all of your “stars” have had STD / HIV
tests that are up to
date – the past 30 days. Never take someone’s “word”
for it either.
On the day of your big production be sure to stick to
the script or shot list. Allow time for re-shooting
scenes. Have your pay ready to give your employees.
8, Selling your
content is easier than you think. There are many sites
that let you upload your content/pictures/clip etc and
sell them. There will be more information in the forum
on the sites available however to start with here is a
few sites that will get you started.

Points to consider before acting in your own adult
movies
Public Criticism
Society condemns the adult
film
industry. This can cause a lot of
problems
in your life if you decide to become an actor in adult
movies. You will more than likely be looked down upon by
strangers,
family
and
friends
who are aware of your movies. This is an important
factor to consider before acting in adult movies. It is
possible that doing so will cause you to loose a lot of
respect from many people.
To be disliked or condemned may not sound like a big
deal to some. However, you must also consider the risk
of gossip and other news spreading about your
participation in adult movies. Some people may advise
their
friends
or colleagues to not associate with you. That can be
very frustrating, especially if you live in a small town
or community.
Major
STD Risks
Acting in adult
movies
requires one to have sexual contact with many different
individuals. This will put you at risk for STDs. While
some can be cured,
diseases
like HIV, Herpes and AIDS cannot. Therefore, if there is
contact with these particular diseases, you will have
them forever. You can be exposed to many different
health
problems
by acting in adult movies. There are reported
STD
symptoms
that are more common in the adult industry and less
common in society.
Your images in Perpetuity
You cannot go back and erase the adult
movies
that include your scenes. This is something to consider
before joining the likes of Nikki Benz and Belladonna.
Once you act in an adult movie, that image can be
duplicated and last for years. The same
movie may
still be circulating when your grandchildren are in
elementary school. An adult star reputation can be
difficult to get rid of. This is especially true if you
were in several hit
movies
that were distributed around the world.
